John David and I played football together at Marion County High. He was by far the best athlete on our team football, basketball and track and later minor league baseball. Segregation didnt go easy in Tennessee in the mid-60’s but our football team was so happy to see John David arrive. We later found out that he had just as much class as a human being as he did as an athlete. What a loss for us all.
