Jesse Collins Anderson was born on 2 June 1921 in Sparta, Tennesse, son of Sam A. Anderson and Mary Margaret Pirtle, Jesse C. Anderson married Edna Lee Gass 5 January 1943 in Crossville, TN, his hometown. He enlisted on 6 April 1943 at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. He was Killed in Action in Italy on 22 June 1944.
He is buried in Murfreesboro, Rutherland County, TN.

The body of Pfc Jesse C. Anderson, who was killed in action in Italy in 1944 while serving with U.S. Army Forces, arrived here by train at 4:10 yesterday afternoon. Funeral services will be held at the grave in Evergreen cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by member of the Murfreesboro Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The body will be at the home of a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Prater, at 920 East Lytle Street, until the time for the funeral.
Private Anderson was a native of Crossville, son of Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Anderson of Sparta. He lived in Murfreesboro for a short time before entering the service in April, 1943. He was killed on June 22, 1944. He served with the 36th Infantry Division. He was 21 years old. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to his parents and his sister, Mrs. Prater, are his wife, Mrs. Edna Lee Anderson of Lima, Ohio; three other sisters, Mrs. Willie Alsup, Mrs. Sue Reed and Miss Bonnie Anderson, of Murfreesboro; and three brothers, T.J. and Virble Anderson of Murfreesboro, and Joe Anderson of Cookeville.
