Weaver Killed in Viet Action
Cpl Jerry L Weaver, 20, Norris Freeway, was killed July 13 in Vietnam, his family learned Friday.
A telegram to Mr and Mrs Charles Weaver said their son was killed while on patrol in the Quang Nam Province of South Vietnam.
Corporal Weaver joined the Marine Corps in November, 1966 and had been in Vietnam since September 1967. He attended Halls High School.
Besides his parents, Corporal Weaver is survived by five brothers. Gary 18, James 14, Syeven 12, Tony 6 and Gregory 4; a sister, Cathy 16; and grandparents Mrs Viola Farmer, Mrs Henry Ray and Omer Farmer, all of Knoxville.
His death brings to 46 the number of Knox County servicemen killed in Vietnam since Nov 17 1965.

Jerry’s Obituary adds the following information to his death story. Jerry was a Lance Corporal in the US Marine Corps; was a member of Highland View Baptist Church; and Mynatt’s was in charge.

Jerry was buried in Weaver Cemetery in Knox County.
