Jasper Gerald was born 4 October 1887, Riceville, Tennessee to William Comb Gerald and Mena Shelton. He entered the service May 28, 1918 at Athens, Tennessee and trained at Camp Pike, Little Rock in Arkansas. He sailed to Europe in August 1918. He died of pneumonia on April 17, 1918 in Germany. Pvt Gerald was initially buried at the American Cemetery, Bad Neuenahr, Germany. Buried at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, S, 14083
