James William Walker was born on 17 March 1922, the son of Joseph Freeman Walker and Grace Irene Baker. Husband of Madge E. Hensley and father William Joseph Walker and Linda Kay Walker.

Pfc. Walker was graduated from Hampton High School and was a member of the Christian Church. He was employed in the coning department of North American Rayon Corportation prior to entering the Army in August,  1942. He was assigned to overseas duty in August, 1943, stationed in England. His father Joe F. Walker was employed by the NARC Salvage Department. His mother with the ABC Final Inspection Department. He sister, Mrs. Margaret Smith was with the ABC Coning Department. His wife, Mrs. Madge Walker lived at Hampton with her two small children, Bill Joe, two years and Linda Kay, three months.

PFC Walker was killed in Normandy, June 10, 1944.

Buried at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Elizabethton, TN.
