James Wilson (Dub) Cash was born in Bradley County, Tennessee, the son of John Pickney Cash and Icie Marie Farris.. His brother John P. Cash was a Staff Sergeant and served with the 42nd Troop Carrier Squardon in the Aleutians.

Enlisted September 22, 1942, in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. Buried at the Normandy American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, France, J, 11, 14.

Pfc. James W. (Dub) Cash, 22, son of Mrs. Marie Cash, 1830 Grand Avenue, was killed in action, July 17, his mother has been notified. Pfc. Cash entered service 22 months ago and went overseas with his infantry outfit last February. Previously he attended Stair Technical High School. Surviving are the mother, four brothers and two sisters. Two brothers are in service, Staff Sgt. John T. Cash Jr., in Georgia; and Pfc. Carl Thomas Cash in Hawaii.
