James Robert Daniel was born around 1900 in Rockwood, TN
He enlisted April 12, 1917. As a member of Company E, 16th Infantry, 1st Division, he received his military training in Texas. Sailed for overseas duty on June 10, 1917. As a member of his command was active until April 1918 and since that date was never heard from again. He was killed in action near Soissons, France.
