James Philip Mynatt was killed when struck by an airplane and was initially buried at Okinawa, 1st Marine Division Cemetery, Ryukyu Retto. Buried in Knoxville National Cemetery on February 23, 1949 (Section B, Plot 5874)

He was the son of  James Parnick Mynatt and Mae Ellen Preston. Brother of  Lou Ella Mynatt Clyde Eugene Mynatt and Joyce Preston Mynatt.
