James “Jim” Mousley Yates was born in 1897 in Covington, Louisiana to John Mousley Yates and Sarah Jane Blocker. He was married to Elizabeth Hafley. Pvt Yates died of pneumonia on 20 October 1918. He is buried at Edwards Cemetery, Tangipahoa Parish in Louisiana.
