James Lee Barr was born in Scott, Virginia, the son of Mary Elizabeth Campbell and William Andrew Barr. He was a farmer before he enlisted on 6 October 1917. He died of wounds on 11 October 1918.
Funeral services were held at the home of the soldier’s mother, Mrs. Mary E. Barr, near Blountville. Burial was in the family cemetery.
