James Henry Ford was the son of Walter Ford and Lula Cordelia Huffaker. He married Arla Wynne Gibbs on 11 January 1938 in Guilford, North Carolina.

Funeral services for Sgt. James H. Ford, who died in France during World War II, will be held at Knoxville next Thursday afternoon. A former resident of Old Hickory, where he was employed by the Du Pont company, Sergeant Ford died on Sept. 30, 1945 of injuries received in an automobile collision in France. He was employed at the Du Pont power plant at Childersburg, Ala., before entering service and at the time of his death has served 20 months with the 687th engineer’s base equipment company. He was a native of Knoxville. Burial will be in the National cemetery here. Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Arla Gibbs of Old Hickory; a brother, Ward A Ford of Clinton, Iowa and a sister, Miss Elizabeth Ford of Old Hickory.
