James Henry Floyd was born on 20 November 1914 in Marion County, Tennessee. He was the son of John Thomas Floyd and Rachel Ellen Harrison. He was married to Mattie Pauline Sitz and father of Brenda Carol Floyd.
He was killed in action on 5 April 1945 in Germany. His brother, Chester Garfield Floyd was killed in action on 12 January 1945. The remains of both brothers were returned to the US and buried at the Griffith Creek Cemetery in December 1948.
