James Edward Manuel was born in Oak Ridge, Anderson County, Tennessee, to William Manuel and Lula Norman. Enlisted on April 25, 1944, in Camp Shelby, MS. He died in England on March 29, 1945, of wounds received in battle. He lived at Route 1, Byington, Knox County, and was buried at Solway Church of God, Knox County.
