James Ed House was born 21 June 1895, Parrottsville, Cocke County, Tennessee to John and Elizabeth House. He entered the service on 5 September 1918 at Greeneville and trained at Camp Wadsworth in South Carolina. He died on 16 December 1918 at the Base Hospital #8 in France of cerebro spinal meningitis. Pvt House is buried at Mount Olivet Church Cemetery, Greene County, Tennessee
