He was the husband of Irene Ellison and father of Car Floyd Harmon, Jo Ellen Harmon and Edna Mae Harmon and Nancy Lee Harmon.He died 29 November 1944 in Germany

Pvt. James C. Harmon, age 25, of Monroe, Michigan, formerly of New Tazewell, Tennessee, was killed in Germany November 29, 1944, while serving with the 18th Infantry. Professed Faith in Christ February 1936. Survivors: one son, Carl; three daughters, Nancy Lee, JoEllen and Edna Mae, all of New Tazewell; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence C. Harmon, New Tazewell; two brothers, Wardon of New Tazewell and Donald of Monroe, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Shelby McBee, Knoxville; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Harmon and Mr. A.J. Greet, a host of other relatives and friends.
