James Cattlet Flynn was born on 6 June 1924 to James Ambers Flynn and Hannah Callett. His mother died in 1927 after which his father remarried with Eva Atchley.
MM3 James C. Flynn was killed in action on 27 April 1945 in the Pacific area. His brother Carl Hines Flynn was killed on March 1, 1942.
