James Boring Little was born 31 August 1924 at Elizabethton, Carter County, TN, the son of Cecil Little and Nora Elizabeth Holden.
Cpl Little was killed in action on Leyte on 1 March 1945. He is buried at Little Cemetery, Valley Forge, Carter County, Tennessee.

Cpl. James B. Little who was killed on Leyte Island, Philippines, March 1, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil E. Little of Elizabethton, route 4. Holder of the Purple Heart for wounds received in action, the Bronze Star for “meritorious service,” Good Conduct Medal and Combat Infantryman’s Badge. Corporal Little entered the Army April 14, 1943. He had been overseas 18 months and saw action in the Bougainville campaign before going into the Philippines. A brother, Staff Sgt. Cecil E. Little, Jr., recently recovered from an attack of pneumonia and is stationed in England following duty in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He has been in service 28 months.
