Jack Lenvill Pleasant was born on 25 April 1920 at Neva, Tennessee, the son of Walter Brownlow Pleasant Sr. and Sanna N Church. He had one sister, Mrs. Ruby Moore and three brothers, Walter Jr., Howard and Sidney, all of Elizabethton. Jack Pleasant was employed at the ABC Wash Room from December 15, 1938 until he volunteered for the Army July 14, 1941. Previous to his employment at ABC he had two years’ service with the Army in the Hawaiian Islands. Pvt. Pleasant left with the Paratroops for overseas duty in May, 1943.

He Died non Battle 12 November 1943 in Italy.  He was initially buried at the Allied Cemetery, Naples, Italy. Buried at Knoxville National Cemetery, B, 6683.
