Jack Edward Byron was born in 1918 in Tennessee to Ellis Courtland Byron and Imogen Woollen. He was married to Dorothy Rose Schild and had a seven-month old son, Jackie. His brother Private Ellis Courtland Byron died in 1942.
He was a graduate of Rhea Central High School in Dayton was employed at a drug store in Burbank, California where he volunteered for service in January, 1941. He went oversease in December, 1943.
Lt. Byron was Killed in Action, October 16, 1944 in Italy and initially buried at Pietramala Cemetery at Mount Beni, Italy and reburied at Florence American Cemetery, E, 4, 3
