John Lester Llewellyn was born on 12 July 1906 at Rural, Knox County, Tennessee. He was the son of Charles Smith Lewallen and Alice Ann Yarnell. He married Margaret Jessie Hickey in 1940.
He died at Shields Lake in Illinois.

John Lester Llewellyn, fireman first class in the U.S. Navy, died at 3 a.m. Friday in Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Chicago. He was 37 years old, his home was on Paper Mill Road, Knoxville. Survivors; wife, Mrs. Margaret Hickey Llewellyn; one brother, Clyde Llewellyn, of Knoxville. The body will be shipped to Knoxville for funeral and burial.
