John David Oliphant was born on 19 December 1924, the son of John Ross Oliphant and Leona Mollie Millard.
He died 4 October 1945 at the Army & Naval Hospital at Hot Springs, Arkansas due to Hodgkin’s disease.
Buried at Riceville Cemetery, Riceville, McMinn County, Tennessee.

Aviation Cadet John David Oliphant, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Oliphant of Riceville, died this morning in Army-Navy General Hospital, Hot Springs, Ark., after a lingering illness. Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Miss Dorothy Jean Oliphant of Riceville; two brothers, Millard Oliphant, Jacksonville, Fla., and Lt. George Oliphant, U.S. Army, Lincoln, Neb.
