Really sorrowful are we to announce the death on foreighn soil of Pvt. J.D. Wallen, son of Mrs. Docia Wallen, Kyles Ford, Tenn. Young Wallen also leaves a wife and little daughter. I recall that soon after this young man was inducted into Military Service, his mother, wife and baby came into my office to have some papers made out. Noticing the highly nerveous state of the mother and further noticing the Soldier left a wife and baby, I reminded them had the writer known the circumstances the Soldier would not have gone to the service. But their neighbors have told me this family just takes things as they come and make no complaints. My deep sympathies go out to this kind mother, the wife and baby. I wonder if the little youth will remember its heroic Daddy.
