Horace Lee Smith was born on April 27, 1926 in Lafayette, Georgia, the son of James Luther ‘Luke’ Smith and Velma Rebecca Millican.
He died on August 8, 1946 at Chattanooga, TN. He was a WWII Veteran according to his death certificate.

Horace Lee Smith, 20, of 3205 East 44th Street, was killed in an automobile crash at 28th Street and Rossville Boulevard. Smith, a sailor on leave from the USS Elkomin at the Boston Navy Yard, died when a car he was driving went out of control at a curve near the intersection and crashed into another automobile driven by George Petras of 1314 North Orrchard Knob Avenue.  Smith was a graduate of Central High and was attending the University of Chattanooga when he enlisted in the navy. He was a member of the Clifton Hills Baptist Church. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. J.E. Fricks; brother, James Luther Smith and grandmother, Mrs. E.A. Smith and grandfather, A.W. Millican. His father was the late Luke Smith.
