Hiawatha Louis Edward Perry was born in Jonesboro, Tennessee, the son of Enoch H (Dock) Perry and Carrie Stuart. He enlisted on 24 April 1941 at Fort Oglethorpe in Georgia. He died non battle and was initially buried at Saint Mere Eglise #2 Cemetery at Carentan, France and re-buried at the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France, Plot A, Row 18, Grave 21.
