The family of Herman Tramell of Winfield have received a telegram from the War Department stating that he was killed in action in the North African area on July 12, presumably in the invasion of Sicily. Tramell, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Tramell of Winfield, also lease a wife, Mrs. Gladys Tramell, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burdett Strunk of Winfield. He had been in service for more than two years and had been sent across about three of four months ago. The last letter eceived by the family was written early in July. The telegram from the War Department signed by the Adjutant General read as follows: “The Secretary of War desired that I tender his deep sympathy to you in the loss of your son, Private Herman Tramell, report received states that he was killed in action on July 12 in the North African area. Letter follows.”
