Herman B. Ottinger, also spelled Harmon in State records, was born on 26 February 1897 in Parrottsville, Tennessee to Martin and Ida Ottinger.
Pvt Ottinger was admitted at the Base Hospital at Spartanburg County in South Carolina on 21 November. He died of Pneumonia Bronchia on 30 November 1918. He is buried at Greene County’s Old St. James Cemetery
