Herbert William Tennyson was born 3 November 1913, the son of Robert Cleveland Tennyson and Edith Flora Ghann Tennyson. He married Iva Beatrice Morris in 1941. They were the parents of James Herbert Tennyson.
He died 9 August 1944 in France

Jules Lecoeur offers calvados [a strong apple-based drink) to members of B Company 41st AIR. On the 29th June 1944, upper right facing the camera, is Sgt Herbert W. Tennyson; he was killed less than two weeks later due to friendly fire from members of the 30th Infantry Division near Domfront, France. The photo was taken by Robert Capa. Location of the photo is D51 road north of Hambye.
