Jamestown, Tenn. Aug. 23 – Funeral services were conducted at the Smith Cemetery at Manson for Pfc. Herbert C. Whited, 23, of Manson, who drowned in the Isar River in Germany on July 18. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Whited of this county. His body arrived at Oneida yesterday. Member of the American Legion met the train and accompanied the hearse to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Whited. Young Whited was a member of the Baptist Church. In addtion to his parents, he is survived by five brothers and five sisters. One of his brothers is in military service in Alaska.
