Sgt. Herbert C. Davenport, Jr. was killed in action on 31st of March, 1945 in the European Area. He entered the service upon graduation from Greeneville High School with the class of ’43. He had been overseas since February this year. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Grace Crumley, his parents, and Norma Jean Davenport, and a host of relatives and friends.
