Sgt. Herbert C. Davenport, Jr. was killed in action on 31st of March, 1945, in the European Area. He entered the service upon graduation from Greeneville High School with the class of 1943. He had been overseas since February this year. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Grace Crumley, his parents, and Norma Jean Davenport, and a host of relatives and friends.
