Henry Rice Howard was the son of Henry Rice Howard and Mary Catherine Myer. Henry Howard was transferred to Michigan State College as an aviation student in 1943. He was a graduate of Central High School. He was awarded his silver wings and commissioned to Second Lieutenant on April 15, 1945 at the Frederick, Okla., Army Air Field.

2nd Lt Henry Rice Howard served as a Co-Pilot of a North American AT-6 Advanced trainer. He was killed June 20, 1945 with the pilot when the aircraft crashed in Park County, Colorado.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry R. Howard Sr., 2801 East 14th Street, received War Department notification yesterday that their son, Lt. Henry R. Howard Jr., air corps, was killed in the crash of an army plane near Denver Wednesday.  The plane was piloted by Second Lt. Wilbur . Horscraft, 20, of Odeanside, N.Y. It carried as a passenger Second Lt. Henry Rice Jr.
Lt. Howard is survived by his parents; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Howard Claxton and Miss Virginia Howard; grandfather, Frank X. Myer, Denham, Ky.
