Harrison Bernard Carter was born on 22 January 1924 at Bristol, Tennessee to William Robert Carter and Nonnie Phipps. Brother of James R. Carter and Harold G. Carter.

Technician Fifth Class Harrison Bernard Carter served from April and during its campaigns in Normandy, Northern France and Germany, was killed in action in the vicinity of Korbach, Germany on March 29. He was initially buried in an American military cemetery located in the vicinity of Ittenbach, Germany and reburied at the American Cemetery Margraten in the Netherlands. His remains were returned to the United States in 1949 with burial in Glenwood Cemetery.
