Served with the 508th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He was killed in Normandy on D-Day.
Died on June 6, 1944. He was returned from Blosville-Carentan, France.

Staff Sgt. Harold E. Roberts, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Roberts, 1126 Alexander Avenue, was killed in action in France on D-Day, June 6, his wife, Mrs. Esther Hacker Roberts, 2455 East Fifth Avenue, was notified yesterday by the War Department. Sgt. Robert entered service in September, 1939, soon after ending a school at Powell High School, and was a volunteer in the first Paratroopers formed at Fort Benning, Ga. He had been overseas since last December. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. R.C. Bargo and Mrs. Margaret Moon of Knoxville; four brothers, Clarence, of Salisbury, N.C., Edward, Paul and Charles, Knoxville.
