Pvt. George W. Markland, Johnson City Infantryman has been missing in action since November 23. A veteran of the invasions of North Africa and Sicily, Private Markland enlisted in the Army February 16, 1944 and went overseas. He is holder of the Bronze Star for his part in the landing near Colleville-sur-Mer on the coast of Normandy last June 6. Private Markland is 25 years old and is a son of Mrs. Lue Markland of 43 Exum street.
