George Edward “Ted” Rice was born in 1912 in Limestone, Alabama. He was the son of George Layfayette Rice and Lillie Elizabeth Meeks. He married Ethel McAnear in 1931 in Alabama and the couple had one son, Glenn Ellis Rice. He later married Opal Pauline Butler they also had a son, Jerry Edward Rice. He was living in Meigs County, TN, when he was drafted to serve in WWII.
Pfc. Rice was Killed in Action
He was initially buried at Sainte-Mère-Eglise #1 Cemetery at Carentan, France and reburied at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France, F, 2, 30.
