Pfc. G. Hershel Smith, 22, husband of Mrs. Bobby Ruth Smith and father of Bobby Jean Smith, age 10 months, of 1120 South Crewst Road, and son of Mr. and Mrs. M.T. Smith of Tyner, Tenn. Pvt. Smith was killed in France March 5, entered the army in August, 1944 and went overseas in February, 1945. A former student at Tyner High School and Central High School, he was serving with the Seventh Army when killed.
