Private Fred Lincoln Dunaway was born on July 17, 1895 in Robertsville, Tennessee. He was the son of Wayne W. and Mary Dunaway. He was the brother of Fielder Dunaway and Floyd Dunaway. Prior to joining the military he worked on his own farm in Edgemoor, Tennessee. He served with the 148th Infantry, Company E. He was killed in action during World War I at Olsene in Belgium.
