Pfc. Frank S. Norris, 20-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Norris of 104 Armstrong place, was killed in action on Cebu Island in the Philippines on April 21 while serving with the infantry, the War Department notified his parents. A former student at Knoxville High School, Private Norris was inducted into the Army on July 7, 1943, and took basic training at Fort McClellan, Ala. Overseas for 15 months, Norris was a veteran of the Bougainville and Leyte campaigns and held the Bronze Star. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Master Sgt. Lawrence E. Norris of Chatham Field, Ga., and John Norris of Knoxville; two sisters, Mrs. William Jackson and Mrs. Earl Dyer, both of Knoxville.
