Frank A. Grindstaff was born in Dry Creek, Carter County, Tennessee, the son of David M. Grindstaff and Sarah Price. Husband of Kate Grindstaff.

Technician 5th Class Frank A. Grindstaff #34739947 US Army Air Forces was assigned to the 1896th Engineer Battalion Aviation.

He was killed in action on the 12th of January 1945. He is interred at the Manila American Cemetery, Philippines, D,10,94.

Mrs. Kate Grindstaff has been notified by the War Department that her husband, Tech. Fifth Grade Frank A. Grindstaff was killed in action somewhere in the Pacific, January 12. He had basic training at Camp Blanding, Fla., and later was stationed at Camp Crowder, Mo., Camp Ellis, Ill., and Camp Forrest, before being sent overseas last July. Before entering the service he was employed at a Johnson City foundry. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Grindstaff of Johnson City.
