Frederick Augustus Schlemmer was the son of Frederick Charles Schlemmer and Elnora Belle Smith. He was married to Katherine Virginia Rice and father of Frederick Charles Schlemmer II.
He was initially buried at La Cambe Cemetery at Isigny, France and reburied at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France, G, 11, 30.

Lt. Frederick A. Schlemmer, son of Frederick C. Schlemmer, project manager of TVA’s Fontana Dam, was killed in action n France July 11, the family was notified today. He is also survived by his wife, the former Miss Katherine Rice of Chattanooga, and a son 11 months old.
Lt. Schlemmer was 24 and a graduate of Tennessee Military Institute and McCallie School, Chattanooga. Lt. Schlemmer entered the Army in July, 1942. He is survived by his parents, and brothers, Aviation Machinist Mate, second Class, William Lee Schlemmer, and Norman Clark Schlemmer, a student at McCallie School.
