Pfc. Ernest Griffin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Griffen. Born Aug. 15, 1916 in Claiborne County. He enlisted in U.S. Army, Dec. 21, 1941, serving with Heavy Artillery when he was killed in action in France, Aug. 12, 1944. He professed faith in Christ at Grissom Island Church where he remained a member until death. He was married to Rosie A. Antrican. To this union one son was born. His wife, son and father and infant sister preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lula Haves, stepfather, Frank Hayes of Thorn Hill; three sisters, Velva Manning of Thorn Hill; Delphia Carpenter, Dorsie Ratliff of Ohio; three brothers, Henderson Griffen of Tazewell; Robert and Clarence Griffen of Ohio.
