Elbert Williams was born on 9 January 1914 in Campbell County, Tennessee, the son of Ora McClain Williams and Nannie Nancy Collins. Brother of Alma Ruth Williams and Ora McClain Williams and halfbrother of Paul Allen Woods. His father died in 1918 and his mother married William Sherman Woods. He resided with his grandmother J.E. Williams at the time of his enlistment.
He Died non Battle 9 April 1943 in Riverside, California. He is buried at Sunset Cemetery, Clinton, Anderson County, Tennessee.

Blythe, Calif. – Pvt Elbert M. Williams, son of Mrs. Nanny C. Woods, 193 Medaris St., Clinton, Tenn., was one of two soldiers killed Friday night when an army vehicle and a civilian truck collided.
