Services for S/Sgt. Edward L. Neal, 32, will be at St. John’s Baptist Church in Savannah with a military chaplain officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh National Cemetery. Sgt. Neal died Dec. 2 in Vietnam when his base came under mortar attack by hostile forces. He was born in Knoxville and attended Dunbar High School in Savannah. He had been in the army for 13 years. He was assigned to Vietnam in September of this year.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Rosie L. Neal; four sons, Franklin Neal, William Neal, Sammie Neal and Xavier Neal; two daughters, Vanessa Neal and Lisa Neal, all of Savannah; two brothers, Morris Neal of Chicago and Franklin Neal of Knoxville; a sisiter, Mrs. Peggy Powell of Knoxville; other relatives.
