Pvt. Earl Rutherford, 26, son of Mrs. Amanda S. Rutherford, who was previously reported as missing in action was killed in France on June 12, according to a War Department telegram received by his mother. Pvt. Rutherford entered the service about four years ago and was sent overseas about six months ago. He received most of his training at Fort Benning, Ga. Mrs. Rutherford has two other sons, Pfc. Golden Rutherford and Pfc. Floyd Rutherford, who are in service. Pfc. Golden Rutherford, 37, entered the service two years ago and has been overseas in England for four months. His wife, Mrs. Esther H. Rutherford, lives at 142 Hiawassee Avenue. Pfc. Floyd Rutherford, 32, is in France with the Engineer Corps. He entered the service about two and one-half years ago and was stationed in England for two years. Surviving Pvt. Rutherford also are sister, Mrs. Beatrice Atchley, and brothers, Fred Rutherford and Louis Rutherford, all of Knoxville.
