Doyle (Doyal) P. Woody was born on March 15, 1917 at Wilder, Tennessee, the son of Martin Woody and Mary Florilla Shellito.

He was Killed in Action in France. He served in the 314th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II.

He was initially buried at Saint Corneille Cemetery at Le Mans, France and reburied at Brittany American Cemetery, St. James (Manche), France, Plot B, Row 16, Grave 3.
