Mrs. Louise F. Gurbb, Erwin, received medals Sunday her son had been awarded in Vietnam. Pfc. Donald Lee Grubb was killed in action in Vietnam on July 8, 1969. Lt. Col. William B. Nachman, Army Advisor, representing the commanding general, Third Army, made presentation of the Purple Heart and the Good Conduct Medal. Prior to his death, Pfc. Grubb had been awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, Expert Badge with rifle bar and the Sharpshooter Badge with automatic rifle bar. Members of the immediate family present for ceremony were Mrs. Heledia Grubb, sister, with her husband Jim; Mrs. Patricia Johnson, sister, with her husband Hubert; Randy Keith Grubb, brother.
