Pfc. Dave Hinkle, son of the late Jacob and Alice Hinkle of Route 3, Bluff City, Tenn., was killed in action in Italy on May 31, relatives have been notified. Pfc. Hinkle, 32, was employed with the TVA before being inducted into the army in May 1942. He received his basic training at Camp Shelby, Miss., and later was transferred to Los Angeles, Calif. He had been overseas for five months and was with an infantry battalion. He is survived by the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. Henry Carrier, Mrs. Arthur Carrier, Mrs. Bill White, Henry and Ed Hinkle, all of Bluff City, Tenn.; Dewey Hinkle of Caldwell, N.J.; and Elmer and Arthur Hinkle of Birmingham, Ala.

Funeral services for Pfc. Dave C. Hinkle, who was killed in action in Italy, May 31, 1944, while serving with the 337th Infantry Regiment, will be held at the Hickory Tree Church. Burial will be in Shipley Cemetery with the American Legion officiating.
