Pvt Willet served in the European Theater in Normandy and Northern France. He was wounded in action on July 7, 1944 and missing in action in August 7, 1944.
Awarded the Combat Infantrymans Badge and Purple Heart.

Funeral services for Pvt. Dallas M. Willett, son f Clade Willett,, 2811 Berry street, who died of wounds near Averanches, France on August 9, 1944, will be conducted at the Mount Olives Church of God.
Pvt. Willett was a member of “C” Company, First Battalion, 117th Regiment, 30th Division, which was engaged in action when the German army attempted a break through to the sea at Averanches. Every available man, including clerks, messengers, and truck drivers was thrown into action in an effort to halt the advance. His battalion was later cited for bravery by Maj. Gen. L.S. Hobbs, commanding officer. According to information from the War Department, Pvt. Willett was wounded on August 7, 1944 and was captured by the enemy with a number of other wounded men. The group was removed to the nearby farm of Rene Beard, a Frenchman, whose farmhouse was used as a hospital. He died there on August 9, and was buried the following day by the owner of the farm who removed his identification papers, but allowed the identification tag to re-man on the body. Surviving are the father; one brother, Clarence, of Cleveland; three sisters, Mrs. Swafford, of Cleveland, Mrs. Leona Farnsworth of Baltimore, Md. And Mrs. Cora Befoe, of Indiana.
