Seaman First Class Herbert Randall Colquitt, son of W.A. Colquitt, 1931 Ailor Avenue, who had previously been reported missing since the sinking of the USS Luce off Okinawa, was killed in action May 4, his family has been notified.
Seaman Colquitt was 19. He had been in the Navy two years and overseas 19 months. He left Harrison Chilhowee Baptist Academy to join the Navy and saw action in much of the Pacific.
Besides his father, he is survived by three brothers in service, Marine Pfc. Clarence Colquitt, on Okinawa; PO Third Class Lester Colquitt, also on Okinawa, and PO First Class, Frank Colquitt, on Iwo Jima; two brothers at home, James and Alvin; and one sister, Mrs. C.A. McMahan.
