S1C Clifford E. Camp Jr., 34, son of Squire and Mrs. C.E.Camp, 4401 Grand Avenue, received internal injuries when the automobile in which he was riding alone was struck by a Tennessee, Alabama & Georgia Railway locomotive at 56th Street crossing at 7 a.m. Wednesday, and died yesterday afternoon at a local hospital. Seaman Camp was reported to have received several fractured ribs and internal injuries in the accident. His automobile was reported to have been demolished. He served as engineer with the Chattanooga fire department for 10 years prior to entering the navy last March. He received navy boot training at Camp Peary, Va., and had been spending a 14-day furlough with his parents and family. His wife, Mrs. Gladys Camp, and daughter, Barbara Jean, reside at 5607 Alabama Avenue. Seaman Camp was stationed at Norfolk, Va., and was to have reported to his station Thursday. He was injured at the train crossing only a few hours before he was scheduled to leave for Norfolk, relatives said. He was a graduate of Central High School. His father, Judge C.E. Camp, was a member of the Hamilton County court for several years. He is survived by his wife and daughter; parents; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle May Levae and Miss Caroline Camp, both of Chattanooga.
